About the Firm
East Brunswick Attorneys for Mental Health Professionals
With over 50 years of combined legal experience, the Bowne Barry & Barry law firm combines large law firm expertise with the responsiveness and personalized attention of a small law firm.
Partner Laura Bowne Barry is an experienced business and transactional attorney. Partner David C. Barry is an experienced civil and criminal litigation attorney and mediator. Prior to starting the Bowne Barry & Barry firm in 2003, each had worked for major law firms and in-house at major corporations. The depth of Laura and David’s experience enables the Firm to provide cost-effective solutions to a wide variety of client needs.
While the Firm’s clients include a wide variety of businesses and individuals, its special niche is advising and representing New Jersey mental health professionals.
This area of practice focus has developed from David Barry’s dual licensure as an attorney and as a licensed social worker. David has also gained significant insights regarding the issues and challenges facing mental health professionals in his role as Chairman of the National Ethics Committee of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and as President of NASW’s New Jersey chapter. This unique and extensive background enables David to advise New Jersey social workers, counselors, therapists and other mental health professionals on a wide variety of regulatory, ethical, business and practice matters.
Working closely with David, Laura Bowne Barry has developed her own expertise advising and assisting mental health professionals in a variety of business transactional matters, ranging from corporate formations to employment agreements to the negotiation and review of commercial leases.
